Not only because of the diversity of number of different cultures, but in combination with the population mechanics from DEI makes this the best rome total war experience I've had so far. Specifically Rome2 DEI for me is the clear winner here. I don't find this fun at all and believe me I've tried my best to enjoy it even by going a little crazy with the mods. Yes it's a game about survival this is true but what's the point really when all you're doing is holding choke points beating back endless hoards of enemies just to do it all over again and again. While the horde mechanic is cool and the cav is superior in Atilla the game just lacks that feeling I'm looking for with regards to empire management and building. They all have minor strengths and weaknesses but overall they generally feel the same across the board with not much variety between them. The barbarian factions are amazing to play as and probably what I did the most. The ERE has a chance but then the Sasssanids come along and beat them up along with every other faction without player intervention. The WRE usually disintegrates like it's supposed to. Throw in some mods like Radious and ones that enhance ances the AI making them both smarter and more pro active in the way they want to expand and conquer towns combined with the threat of hordes makes for a great TW experience despite my personal feelings. This is actually the shortened version belive it or not.įirstly Atilla is a great game. Think we missed one?
